Trying to connect families with elementary age children diagnosed with Aspergers or High-Function Autism in the Vienna/McLean/Reston area. My son loves playing with other kids but has a difficult time making close friends because of some of the Aspergers social traits. Hopefully through this play group we can get to know some other Aspie parents and kids in the area. All are welcome! Goals: * Have frequent playdates for the kids so they can make new friends and practice their social skills * Sha …

Biodanza-Creative moves for kids is one hour expressive movement class that will allow your unique child with autism or aspergers to: 1. have fun! 2. increase his/her sensory motor and perceptual motor development, 3. improve his/her socialization and communication skills, 4. foster body awareness and nurture his/her personal self-concept. Calling all "Aspergians" and family members! Let's get together to offer support to one another and find some adventures to enjoy together. Hiking, picnics, kayaking, biking, or computer game time in our homes. Maybe even some moms night-out activities! I am a mom of a 13 year old boy with asperger's disorder and would love to find others in my neighborhood who understand.
If you're a parent of a daughter with Aspergers, you know how hard it is for these girls to find each other! This is a social group for tween girls with Aspergers, developmentally ages 9-12. Hopefully we can plan an outing each month where the girls can meet and participate in an activity, whether it's structured like paint-your-own pottery or bowling, or unstructured like sharing a movie or going to a local park. The goal is for the girls to have a chance to meet other quirky kids like themselv …

As Fathers of special needs children, much of our time is spent busily supporting the family, going to or attentively finding out how doctor's appointments went, advocating for our kid(s), and simply doing our level headed best to keep it all above water. It's helpful to know we're not the only ones out there, to have a few peers to connect with, and perhaps learn from each other's experiences as we do everything we can to help our kids and family cope with their unique challenge(s). A local Me …
POCWSN = Parents of children with special needs I know many parents that are in need of support, even if it's just a shoulder to cry on. As a mom of a child with ASD and ADHD, I know the frustrations that arise on a daily basis. My goal is to find ways to support one another. I would like to establish play dates, coffee breaks, Parents night out and whatever any one else feels they need. I am not a doctor or therapist. I am just a mom looking for support and advice from other parents.
This group is a place where families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Delaware can schedule playdates. A place for both children with ASD and their siblings can get together and be "off the clock" together. Playdates will be both structured and unstructured and will include free or low cost outings to public places (zoo, parks, farms, beach, firehouse, etc) as well as group play at private homes. As a group we will try to organize this by age group and location. This is our group so …

Creating a place where people diagnosed with Asperger's and their families can connect, network, and bond.
The purpose of this site is to bring together bright, creative boys and girls ages 8-18 who often struggle to make meaningful social connections with other children and adolescents. Many, but not all, of the kids have been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome or a non verbal learning disability. Parents are the key to successful use of this site. Once a member, you can list your child in our database, while at the same time search our database for other kids who potentially would be a good matc …
